Rich has been a venture capital investor for over 20 years and worked in the technology industry for over 30 years since graduating from MIT.
He invests professionally with Accel Partners, a global venture capital firm, and manages his personal investments out of Coronado Capital, a family office. Coronado Capital investments include the NBA Utah Jazz & the Utah Mammoths through the Smith Entertainment Group (SEG), and other private equity projects.
Rich joined Accel as a partner in 2006 and has led four companies through IPOs including Atlassian Software (TEAM), UiPath (PATH), SunRun (RUN), and Rovio (ROVIO.HE), and multiple acquisitions including AdMob (Google), AirWatch (VMware), MoPub (Twitter), Dealer.com (Cox), Parature (Microsoft), ServiceChannel (Fortive), SwiftKey (Microsoft), and others.
Rich continues to serve on the boards of Checkr, Middesk, Instabug, Pyn, Process St, Truora, and Dovetail. He previously served on the National Venture Capital Association Board of Directors and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
In non-profit roles, Rich serves on multiple committees for MIT including the Visiting Committees for the Economics Department & the Political Science Department and the Advisory Board for the Center for Entrepreneurship. He also serves on the Harris Council, the Advisory Board for the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy.
Rich started his career as a brand manager at Procter & Gamble and a management consultant at McKinsey. He grew up in Santa Rosa, California and has a Materials Science & Engineering degree and Masters in Management from MIT.
